Pretty good CD. There are a few songs I prefer to all the others. "Goodbye, Miss Havisham" standing out far and away as the best - it blows me away! That song alone makes it worth the price of the CD. Too bad they've broken up. It would have been nice to see what other gems they could've come up with. Great musiscianship and most important to me, great vocals.
Great stuff Sep 17, 2007
I listened to their first CD for a while, and it just wasn't something I could get into.
This one blew me away. They've refined, simplified, and improved every part of their sound. Lyrics are better, style is LOTS better, voice has got better, recording is better... this album's going to be a hit.
So don't judge based on the first record - they're a whole new band with a much better sound. I can't get this out of my CD player.
My only complaint is that the album is too short - only 10 tracks. But since they're all good and you don't want to skip any of them like certain other bands, that's okay. I much prefer 10 good tracks to 5 good and 8 mediocre ones. I love 'f-stop', 'tell me I'm wrong', 'the olive branch', and every one of the last 3 tracks. Plus all the others, really. There's not a bad track, like I said.
Don't miss this one, it's awesome.
Dang good stuff!!!! Aug 5, 2007
.. like the previous reviewer, great vocals & musicianship. Very creative melodies. I expect these guys to be very popular.
"Cover Your Eyes"---Sullivan's Stepping Stone Jun 15, 2007
For those of you who didn't like Sullivan's debut record "Hey, I'm a Ghost," then give them a second chance. This album is far better than their debut. For one, Sullivan takes a totally different approach to their songwriting. In fact, when I first listened to it, I was instantly reminded of My Chemical Romance and Weezer. Sullivan have definitely simplified their sound some, but in a good way. The lead vocalist (Brooks) is much more confident on this record and does an amazing job leading the listener from track to track. Really, this album is all about the vocals! Don't get me wrong; the musicianship on this album is very solid. However, the vocals dominate. I believe "Cover Your Eyes" will be a major stepping stone for Sullivan.
***Update*** Sullivan is no more! It's sad to see this happen to a band with so much potential. Suck!!
Rocks my Socks..... Jun 12, 2007
Looking for a sound that will Rock your Socks !!!! Sullivan is it!!! This CD is the greatest thing to hit stores since well ever. Brooks energy and unique vocals are sure to make you stop in your tracks and the lyrics will have you pondering for hours saying "I have totally felt like that." A++++++++++
