 | Nelson's Complete Book of Bible Maps and Charts (3rd Ed.) Jun 1, 2010 |
I received this book from Thomas Nelson publishers as a part of their [...] campaign. I have an earlier version, so I was glad to see the update.
Story Line: Have you ever wanted to know what a book of the Bible was all about without reading it? Don't worry, I won't hunt you down. While it is not a substitute, this book is a great companion that aids to the reading of God's Word. It contains contextual information for all 66 books (Old and New Testaments). Outlines, timelines, authorship, maps - all the information you need to write a paper for a "Survey Class."
The Real Story: Things that MUST be known: "Full Color", "Now with Photos", "includes reproducible maps and charts". These are direct quotes straight from the book cover! Riviting. Actually, it's very cool. You also have access to download all maps and charts for NO COST. These could be used in PowerPoints or study notes for sermons or lessons.
While a good quality study Bible will have much of the information in this resource, it's great to be able to access it in multiple forms and for multiple uses. It's very easy to use for those who are just beginning to study the Bible and those who have been at it for many years.
I will proudly be displaying its colorful pages when opportunity allows - a great edition to an already great library.
Rating: 5 out of 5 full color stars. Yellow, of course. | | | | A Resource for the Source May 31, 2010 |
Nelson, in the fashion we have come to know and expect has delivered yet another quality and informative commentary right into our hands! Nelson's Complete books of bible Maps and Charts, Third Edition, does not disappoint. I would also add that this book delivers to both the literary lover and the seeker of facts and purposes. The chronological geographically demographics in this book are amazing! My need to know the time and place is answered specifically here in each chapter. I know that in order to have true knowledge of the Bible you need faith that it is God's word, but when you have foundational knowledge it can deepen God's truth in your everyday life. Factual knowledge of the places and people in God's word enhances the faith of each individual and is essential to the nurturing of the relationship with our Savior. In each era and through each prophet a truth of God was tested in their belief systems and woven into the chords of their hearts and minds. God sets out for His truth to be revealed in many lives and for all time. I received this book through Thomas Nelson's Book Sneeze program for Bloggers. I was not paid to or encouraged to give a positive review but upon utilizing this book I was compelled. I pray you enjoy it in your studies as I have and will continue to do.
Sincerely, Rachele Posey

Chock full of outlines, charts, pictures, and maps, Nelson's Complete Book of Bible Maps and Charts is a fantastic visual Bible study resource.
My favorite part: how the book is organized. The book is divided into Old Testament and New Testament and then each book of the Bible is given its own chapter. Having the book set up in the same order as the Bible makes research super simple.
If you're studying Nehemiah, you don't have to flip through pages and pages of maps to find what Jerusalem looked like in his time. Find `Nehemiah' in the index and then you'll have all kinds of `Nehemiah' information at your fingertips.
Author, dates, outlines, timelines, historical background...
Another great part of Nelson's Complete Book of Bible Maps and Charts: COLOR maps! These maps (as well as all of the other charts and timelines) are reproducible for use in a class or Bible study setting. Also, you can download free .pdf versions of all of the maps and charts at [...].
I am a visual learner, so I really appreciate Nelson's Complete Book of Bible Maps and Charts. Having so much information all in one book is an invaluable resource for any Bible student.

Nelson's Complete Book of Maps and Charts Third Edition which includes full color reproducible maps and charts from the Old and New Testaments is an invaluable study tool that brings scripture to life. Each of the 66 books of the Bible are dynamically expounded upon with rich detail. This is like an Old and New Testament Survey all in one. Each chapter is jam-packed with biblical knowledge that is sure to enhance the development of study habits and lesson/sermon preparation. Pastors, ministers, professors, small group leaders, Sunday school teachers, and individual Bible students will greatly benefit from the insightful knowledge and user-friendly structure of this book. All maps and chart's are also available for free download with the purchase of this book. Use the charts and maps in your sermon/teaching illustrations. This book is a visual overview of the whole Bible at your fingertips!
I would highly recommend this book. It took me some time to read the whole thing, but it was completely worth it. Very seldom do I give a book five stars, but after reading it how can I not. After receiving it, I thought to myself..."this will just be another book on my shelves that collects dust", however I use it on a regular basis. It still sets on a shelf from time to time, but it has the privilege of being placed next to my favorite Bibles and sermon preparation tools. I am still intrigued at how in each chapter that discusses every book of the Bible they present a clear presentation of how they each point back to Christ. I love that aspect about this book, it always points back to Christ. I can't say enough good stuff about this book, but like I said before I highly recommend it, five-star, get yours today.

It has taken me awhile to finish this book but it was well worth it. When I first got this book I believed it would be just maps and charts but it was so much more then that. It had book reviews and recaps, maps, charts, book outlines, and much more. I believe for any person that studies the bible this is a must have. It makes studying the bible very interesting and insightful.
I am a student ministries pastor and this book has the power to help and aid me in teaching the word of God. Although I see things through pastor's eyes this book is a much needed tool for professors, pastors, theologians, and even lay people.
I would highly recommend this book for you. Go and get it today, you will be glad you did.
