 | Definite page turning delight! Mar 17, 2007 |
Mystery, suspense, drama. A definite page turning delight. If you are anything like me, a mom who loves to escape reality inside the covers of a great murder mystery, than Eyes of Elisha is perfect for you.
I have always loved mysteries. But as a Christian, I was struggling with the who-dunnits out there because they always seemed to come bundled with bad language, inappropriate bedroom scenes, and all kinds of stuff I didn't want to read.
So many times, I simply gave up on my love for a great mystery.
That was until I discovered Brandilyn Collins and her seatbelt suspense novels.
Eyes of Elisha tells the story of Chelsea Adams, a devoted Christian who begins to get visions from God about events that took place. She must then struggle with what to do with her knowledge. Certainly no one in their right mind would believe her. She's not sure to believe it herself.
But our God is an amazing God, and He guides her through, even as her non-believing husband barely tolerates her faith.
"Torn between what she knows and the burden of proof, Chelsea must follow God's leading and trust him for protection."
The twists and turns in Eyes of Elisha will keep you guessing and make your heart beat fast as you flip page after page.
As for me, I am hooked, absolutely hooked on anything Brandilyn Collins has written, and I am working my way through her novels one at a time.
Many of her books are written is series format, but can also be read as individual novels.
Just when I think she's outdone herself, the next story gets even better.
The sequel to Eyes of Elisha is Dread Champion, and will keep you on the edge of your seat.
So buckle up, and get ready for the ride of your life in Eyes of Elisha. Just don't forget to B-R-E-A-T-H-E.....
| | | | Average Mystery, Good Read Dec 18, 2006 |
I've heard a lot of buzz recently about Brandilyn Collins, and instead of jumping straight into the Kanner Lake Series, I decided to begin with the Chelsea Adams series and work my way up.
The story held my attention throughout, however there were moments when the plot seemed to drag some. The mystery was fairly easy to solve, but I did second-guess myself a few times. At times the story became a bit too preachy, and I wonder if non-Christians might be turned off as a result.
Nevertheless, as a Christian I enjoyed the overall story and I appreciate Collin's effort. I cared about the characters enough to want to read the next novel, Dread Champion, and I am confident that Brandilyn Collin's novels will only get better. | | | | An Extrordinary Novel of Suspense... and More! Nov 14, 2006 |
Author Brandilyn Collins, in "Eyes of Elisha," and her follow-up novel, "Dread Champion," has established herself as a superb mystery writer. Her well-crafted plots, interwoven with her deeply held Christian faith, meet or exceed the standards of this genre, including the works by best-selling writers of secular suspense. Ms. Collins joins Terri Blackstock and James Scott Bell as one of the best in combining stories which are truly suspenseful and inspiring... and her courtroom sequences are extraordinary. Highly recommended! -Ron Howe (aka Toby Martin II) / Erskine, MN.

| Whoa! This is a great book. It is the first of Brandilyn's books that I have read. I didn't want to lay it down. I recommend it to anyone wanting a mystery that feeds you a little information at a time. | | | | Collins weaves faith and suspense together Feb 8, 2006 |

While dining with her husband and his prospective employee, Chelsea Adams witnesses the last moments of a murdered woman's life. Chelsea wasn't at the scene of the brutal crime and the murderer thinks no one saw his attack. But, like Elisha the prophet of old, Chelsea experiences a vision-a chilling image that sends her to the police to help them find the victim.
Sergeant Reiger possesses a deep faith and doesn't ridicule Chelsea's claims. However, he has no murder to solve and he wonders how her vision could be from God and be wrong. Then Chelsea goes searching and discovers the body she knows has to be out there. Reiger and his partner Detective Turnbow now have a mystery to solve and they must take this vision seriously.
Chelsea's husband Paul does not embrace her new faith. He becomes more concerned each day as Chelsea accuses their dinner partner-the man he wants to hire as a vice president in his company. Paul hates that Chelsea's faith is beyond his understanding and he fears she is now in danger from the murderer as Reiger and Turnbow pursue the killer.
Collins weaves faith and suspense together in a fast-paced novel full of surprising plot twists. The story grabs the reader and compels him or her to keep turning the pages-I couldn't put the book down. The mix of faith, crime and visions could be cheesy, but Collins brings believability to the book's premise and delivers a delicious sense of terror and suspense. People of faith will appreciate Chelsea's struggle to obey God's leading, respect her husband, and see justice served.
